SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

  • SPOT is committed to sustainable development. Our sustainability policy is a guidelines to frame our work and processes, and our aim is to limit the impact of our operation on the environment. We will:

    • implement this sustainability policy at all levels within the organisation.

    • ensure that our services are developed in line with SPOT’s sustainability policy.

    • comply with relevant environmental legislation and regulation.

    • reduce the use of energy, water and other resources where possible.

    • minimise waste by reducing, reusing and recycling.

    • encourage staff and collaborators to develop new ideas and initiatives around being sustainable.

    • provide appropriate resources to meet the commitments of this policy.

    • promote and encourage involvement in local environmental initiatives and schemes.

  • Branded and printed collateral materials such as posters, leaflets and signs will be produced in collaboration with environmentally conscious service providers taking substantial steps to limit their impact on the environment while also using recycled paper stocks and non toxic inks.

  • SPOT will include programming around the notion of sustainability by partnering with collaborators engaging in sustainable practices, and by using and providing sustainable materials throughout its yearly programme and activities.

  • SPOT will promote sustainability throughout its programming, marketing and communication. Audience members will be encouraged to travel using public transports and cycling, and to put into action practical sustainable habits to limit their environmental impact (such as for example bringing their own bags, water bottles or refillable coffee cups where and where possible) as they come to SPOT's events and activities.

  • SPOT will require all collaborators to commit to environmental sustainability, clear guidelines will be established and delivered to each collaborator ahead of each event and activity. SPOT will particularly seek collaborators engaging in sustainable practices to help promote sustainability to its audience. SPOT will put particular efforts in seeking spaces and venues which have sustainable practices in place.

  • SPOT commits to reducing, reusing and recycling within our office premises and at the venues we use for our events where possible; where this is not made possible we will action a plan and discuss with the venue options to align with this policy. We will offer bins in order to separate waste.

  • SPOT is currently located at The Briggait, a property managed by WASPS. WASPS offers separate bins for disposal of recycling and rubbish and LED lights were recently fitted in the building.

  • To reduce the need to travel for meetings, free online meetings will be organised by SPOT where and when necessary and applicable. Alternative working arrangements, including home working, will be supported to reduce the need to travel. Walking, cycling and using public transports will be encouraged when working in the office.
